(previous question never showed up because of ridiculous Yahoo censor software which scans for keywords. Helpful tip - to trick the software try entering random alphanumeric strings of text before and after the question)

Lazy leftist liberals just sit around all day smoking pot, eating granola, and popping out babies. But crazy Catholic conservatives don't want to piss off God by using birth control so they're also responsible.

Who is more to blame?

None of the above.

An intro sociology course or poli sci will teach you that those who are the most poor in our society are the least likely to identify with any political party.

Your question is simply nothing more than a very tired talking point that allows Christians to avoid the topic of helping those scary poors.

I think it's the government's fault. They should require drug testing.

The problem is you can go on welfare as a life style. If they are forced to drug test and also work, far less would be on welfare.

who is to blame?!?!?  the lazy people who don't get off their fannies, the generations of welfare mothers who know no other way of life and the democrat party who hands out instead of making people work.  the welfare system was part of the greater good - working for the state./city and getting money.

after katrina scores of people spent their own money to haul clothing, furniture and food.... they were met with indifference, laziness and even rudeness when the drivers asked for help unloading!

you obviously know nothing about a woman's reproductive system so i pray you don't have sex and accidentally procreate!

Hi,  "obama's administration"!  When you continue to take the "american" peoples money and "spend" it on "special interest"groups, unions, abortion clinics, global warming, giving "money" to the "world", raising "taxes", gas prices! And layoffs, expensive "health" insurance costs, spending "cuts" to education! This will make the welfare program a "costly" choice!

The accusation of lazy liberals and people is not reality.  Sure, their are abusers of the system.  However, look in other countries.  Most developed countries have universal healthcare, affordable college, and beneficial welfare.  People don't care much about "the abuse" because far more people are helped by these social programs (well, in the US we don't have affordable college of universal healthcare).  Also, corporate welfare is over 3 times as high as Welfare Spending!  The rich get more cash and the disadvantaged are given a kick in the shoulder.  Great.

Also, many welfare recipients are children, elderly, disabled, and veterans.  So, instead of skewing the "inefficiency" of welfare, consider the many people who are helped by this program.  Other countries don't complain of the trade-offs much.

The welfare problem is caused by the natural social/economic hierarchy we currently operate under.

Catholics are often considered a Liberal voting block.

Statistical welfare usage is well documented. The highest concentrated volume of welfare recipients are people living in heavy industrial urban areas. While the highest per capita is rural small towns with very limited jobs and education opportunities.

I'm not sure if you have ever interacted with a government agency. Or lived desperately enough to qualify for food stamps. But let's just agree that those are both very negative experiences.
