Hey Smiley I've just finished my high school and I will study Engineering. First off , I dislike engineering and don't like its work and jobs. However, I'm obliged to study it because my average doesn't allow me to study Medicine or Pharmacy. I don't live in the U.S
I'd been thinking about Chemical,Computer,Electrical, and Mechanical Engineering. I love chemistry but I dislike the idea of Chemical engineering. I mean, I don't like designing chemical factories and machines, thermodynamics, and petrochemicals.
I love computers, but hate studying them so much! I've always considered programming languages so silly and ridiculous , and really couldn't stand them! I hate reading about external hard disks and other new computer parts that are produced continuously ! actually , I don't like technology so much.
I suck at maths , so I suppose Electrical Engineering would be the worst choice for me!
I totally hate cars, planes, trains, and any other mechanical machines! I so hate maintenance also , so I believe mechanical engineering would be a really bad choice for me!

please help me Cry !! I don't like any discipline of Engineering but I have to study it , unfortunately !!

thanks in advance.

Engineering is hard. Very hard, and there are several tests most engineers are required to take before anyone will hire you in the USA (the FE and the PE). Many people fail those tests as they cover everything you have studied as an engineer through college.

Also, you have to be good at math. Most engineering programs require 3-4 advanced calculus classes.

I noticed you left out Civil, aeronautic, and Environmental Engineering. Civil deals with construction of roads and bridges, aeronautic works with airplane design and environmental does exactly what it sounds like.

it actually depends on where you plan to study the field and under which specific job you want to work in after graduating.

i've studied mechanical engineering in the philippines because i like opening parts up, i like math, i like to know how things work. what i found out now after graduating is that you dont really do maintainance or become greasy and stuff like that. maybe a little greasy but my field focuses on design. i currently use a 3d software to design and create things and with a computer project what i want to create before actually building a prototype. if you want creating parts from nothing or tweeking and redesigning how things work then mechanical engineering is for you.

chemical engineering focuses on the chemical composition of substances. you play with chemicals that could either burn your house or explode which in a way sounds fun especially if you visualize yourself doing experiments. you create compounds like acids and bases. you are capable of creating jet fuel out of lard or animal fat. you can change the way a diesel or gasoline fuel burn inside an engine. you create shampoos which everyone uses. basically you look into the molecular structure of things and reassemble them to fit your needs.

electrical engineering focuses on how you create circuits. from building robotic helicopters to powerful intelligent computers that only run on your command. electrical engineering is a mixture of IT/programming and hardware creation(IC circuits) you study how electricity passes through objects such as LEDs, Transistors, Capacitors and the like. and you get to mix them and create something new such as digital airconditioners, LED tvs, LCD tvs, Monitors and anything that is small and runs on electricity.

from these examples of what each field does i suggest you choose wisely. studying a field which you are not fond of will just most of the times result to failing your course. all engineering fields require math and not being good at it does not mean you cant succeed at it. you only need to have the heart for that specific study. hope this helps you. good luck!

engineering = math + science

maybe you should try industrial engineering since it's mostly probabilities, statistics and economics. which have mostly given formulas.

if you really don't like anything, maybe you should just find something else. don't even consider  engineering. go with what works with you. whatever your strengths are. since you wanted to study medicine, i suppose your good with science so i suggest you just study one of the sciences like biology or something. if it's because you want some high paying job, that's the wrong reason for choosing.

i'm currently studying computer engineering and i chose it cuz it sounds nice. BIG mistake and i really hate it but i've got no choice but to finish it since i'm in my terminal year. i'm miserable and i don't want anybody else to feel what i'm feeling now. don't make the same mistake i did.

you can choose chemical engineering and then you can study process control.

First of all, it's a good start that you like chemistry. It means you got a preference already.

When I Google-searched "Chemistry", it dawn on me that the chemical industry is about making people's lives better and more enjoyable. The following are just a few non-exhaustive specialized trades, that require not just knowledge of chemistry, but its process, its business and it distribution to end-users for the betterment of lives and living:

- Wine-making / beer-brewing:
Wouldn't it fascinates one to consider the yeast-fermentation chemical process that goes into making a good wine - Wine that complements a good fine-dining experience? Or how about smooth flowing beer down the throat? How would pubs be any good, without great beer (that comes from the chemical-processing breweries) to complete the happy-hour?

- Art Painting Restoration and Conservation
Overtime, beautiful paintings will experience decomposition and damage, e.g. cracks, flaking, loss, chemical damage, etc. Equipping with knowledge of specialized chemistry, paintings will be restored and conserved to be wonderfully appealing and mesmerizing again. Are you into painting and arts? If so, you would greatly appreciate a well taken care piece of exquisite artifact - not just for you, but for other art-lovers as well.

- Explosives Control
Does blowing things up appeal to you? What I mean is there is a need for explosive experts in the field of ordinance disposal, mine removal operations, demolition, bomb squads, or security, etc. etc. Explosives Control needs knowledge about chemistry, math and science, and the ability to stay calm, working under pressure. Just a suggestion if you have the stomach for it. But no matter what, choose the one that contributes to society. Not destroy / desecrate it.

- Perfume / Aromatherapy
A good mix of proper chemical constituents would produce the necessary therapeutic effect on a human body and helps preserves the body's natural balance, as well as providing fragrance to the body. Wouldn't life be more pleasant with better health and an enchanting touch of fragrance?

As I mentioned, the above searches are just non-exhaustive.

So the question is what do you like to do? Is any of the above appeal to you? Does it expand your horizon? I suggest you continue your search. Find out what you're good at, and how you think you can contribute to others, such as the above, and go on to pursue.

It's you life. Make it count.

So basically you hate Computers, Mathematics, Chemistry, Machinery, Science, planes, cars etc.
Ehhh... All I can say is "Good Luck". Try to figure what you hate the least Smiley
