technology to travel and explore Mars

And eventually that technology will improve the life of all of us living on Planet Earth

Since NASA didn't discover any new minerals or chemicals on Mars

We haven't gone to Mars...........the furthest human beings have sent anything into space is the moon (even that is to be debated, no one is sure).

I disagree. I am old enough to remember what was the state of science before Martian missions. Back then there was one astronomer who thought that he saw 'channels' on Mars and many people believed that Martians exist.

It is difficult to discover new minerals and chemicals on a planet so similar to our own. I would imagine that one of the benefits was simply to confirm that the chemicals and minerals which exist on Earth also exist throughout our Solar System. In terms of geology, understanding the processes which occurred on Mars can help us to understand the geology of Earth.
