im thinking of buying an xbox 360 console but i would like to play some old xbox games on it do you know if the 360 can play old xbox games?

only if you have the internet connection to downlaod an update to your xbox which is required to play originals.

A 360 that has an official Microsoft hard drive can play some (but not all) original Xbox games.

You'd need to buy the 250 GB model of 360, and check that the games you want to play are on this list.
