Go for a six-core I5 instead of the AMD CPU.
The I5 is a lot better at gaming than the I7.
And try buying 2 HDD and then set it up to Raid 0.

Those are the 2 things that is the lowest rated here.
But if you can then buy the AMD Radeon graphic card with 2GB of dedicated RAM.

Best regards

there is nothing wrong with that set up. in fact i believe it is a quite good set up. you will just need to save for the hd monitor and proper mouse and keyboard to suit

Looks a perfectly good choice. People often say only use Intel because they are jealous of the fact they spent a lot more on an Intel chip than you will on the AMD. In my experience there is little difference. And in many cases an AMD has been better performance than intel for the equivalent chip. Just because games do not use 6 cores, there is no reason not to use a 6core chip. A game could be released tomorrow which does. As they become more common software generally will migrate towards higher numbers of processors. And parts of the OS may ultimately start using more when available. People often can't stand the idea of anyone getting better than they have.

Probably some paid off intel customers from intel corp telling you that amd is bad, to be honest neither intel or amd is bad and your config is great except for the sound that high definition on board is crap get a creative x-fi or a asus sound card, that amd processor does good as multi-tasking and
for gaming,i have two pc's will upgraded to the amd phenom ll series x6 cores, probably a 1055t or 1090t haven't decided on the am3 motherboard yet, rating on your specs is 10** and this goes out to all stop listening to what people say about computer products try it for yourself unless the company has a recall on it, enjoy your pc system.

Computer people are like that sometimes.  NO NO NO this is WAAAY better.  NO don't get that get THIS one.  You need the $1000 processor and the $800 motherboard and two $500 graphics cards in SLI and blaaaaahblahblahblah.

AMD is fine for gaming.  No, it doesn't do as well as some Intel processors, but gaming isn't all about the processor.  No, most games won't use 6 cores, but more and more of them can and the best processors are overkill for gaming and the 4 core version of the processor you picked will still handle any game just fine with the right graphics card.

Your build is fine but I do have suggestions (I'm a computer people...)

Get 2 500Gb hard drives in RAID 0 or 3 500Gb hard drives in RAID 5.  It won't help gaming a lot but it will help everything load and open files faster.

You don't need 1600Mhz memory unless you're going to overclock, so you could step down to 1066 or 1333 and save a little money if you're going to leave everything at stock speeds.

If you can, try to get a motherboard with the AM3+ socket to make your life easier in a few years when you want to upgrade the processor.

Also, if you can, get a board with CrossFireX support - once again, makes things easier down the road.

Make sure the power supply can handle your computer AFTER any upgrades you might make.  Having too much power supply doesn't hurt anything or use more power than having one that is barely enough.  This includes a second video card if you take my advice on the crossfire support, another 8Gb of RAM, maybe a blu-ray drive, maybe another hard drive, and anything else you think you might add to it someday.

YUP.

http://www.cyberpowerpc.com/saved/1D9WGW  It's $18 over - deal with it lol.

There were no AM3+ boards.  I also stepped down the processor to keep it in budget after I switched to a 6870 and got a power supply that could handle 2 6870s.

There is nothing wrong with your setup.

However, it is true that gaming never uses more than 4 cores. keeping that in mind, you can get a cheaper quad core processor and get a better graphics card, which will improve your performance significantly.

Here is a quad core i5 setup that could easily double the performance in your games over the PC that you selected.

I tried configuring a PC at your preferred site and managed to get something similar at $975.

This will out perform your PC configuration by a mile. You can check game benchmarks from the site itself so it'll be easy to see which performs better.
